My favorite quote; Life should not be a journey to the grave…

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
Hunter S. Thompson

I have this posted on my wall.

I first saw this on the back of an envelope of a thank you note from a travel agency I utilize. Perhaps it resonates because I love roller coasters. When I was very young we still had the wooden framed rollers coasters, replaced by steel and twists. I personally think the wooden coasters were the scariest….the sound of the thumping as it slowly went up the first of several humps. That moment before your car seat went over when you say to yourself, I want to get off! What am I doing?

Caregiving for me is a roller coaster. Today I am coasting. Tomorrow I might be going up slowly anticipating the downward projection trying not to scream. I know that I eventually I will be coasting, I just need to hang on now.

HartFelt wishes that your caregiver journey is one that has enjoyment even if you need to hang on
